Some people wear the badge ‘atheism’ as if it is a medal of honor. ‘A’ meaning a negative, or lack of, and Theos, from God, hence no-God. Folks are actually proud that they have reasoned God not only from their lives, but from existence. I’m thinking this is not easy to do.
There are many branches of atheism; some quiet, others not so much.
Some time ago a fellow made the remark that he would believe in God if he were to perform some kind of trick within the next fifteen minutes. He was serious, to which he was told: ‘Do you think you can exhaust the patience of God in fifteen minutes?’
Quite an answer, for heaven is silent in this age of grace. There is a reoccurring tempting of God these days, for people are daring God to ‘challenge’ them once more. ‘Just show up’ they say, so their unbelief may be idolized when God does not cater to their whims.
Has not this mocking of God been going on since the beginning of time? Yep, and it will only increase. ‘Prove to us that you exist’ is the call, and men do not consider the thousand daily proofs that stare them in the face.
God is ever God; He keeps the planets in tune, the reliability of the sun and the moon are taken for granted, and the multitude of proofs he has given man, are thought to be mere accidents. There is no place on earth that does not have his regard, and it is He who holds the title deed to the earth, and not you Mr. Atheist. Without Him, you are a trespasser on another man’s property.
But there is a sect of atheism that cannot exist without the foundation of Christianity to attack. Mind you, all the other faiths of the world are pretty much ‘hands off,’ but ah, believers are worthy of being a blip on the radar of atheism. It is this strange relationship that the atheist needs to fuel his unbelief. There must be something in addition to God to NOT believe in. There must be something to ridicule.
Believing in no God alone just will not cut it, they need to take something from others, kind of like the Lord saying ‘Who touched me?’ when he perceived virtue went from Him. And here is the grand theft of the atheist. Taking from others.
The atheist at heart needs to justify his unbelief by trying to take from others what is precious to them. He wants proof and a piece of your faith so you will have less, thus making him stronger in unbelief and you supposedly weaker. Really?
I need to prove nothing in the identical way God wins all ‘challenges’ without showing up.
God gave man a conscience that he may know His Creator, and man steals this gift to really worship himself. Nature teaches there is a God, and the conscience affirms it.
True the atheist will deny this, and say ‘we do not worship anybody or anything,’ but denial goes hand in hand with unbelief. The conscience is between the bone and marrow of a mans life, try cutting it out; no can-do. It makes us human apart from the animal, and all men know instinctively (unless there is an illness of sorts) there is a God.
From God’s point of view there is no such thing as an atheist. It is not a matter of unbelief, but of simple denial. It takes a whole lot of hoop jumping to explain away the incredible reasoning of a world without God. People mock faith, but faith is EVIDENCE in things not seen. Evidence? Yea, we got that.
Don’t steal what belongs to God. Everything is His. And btw, atheism was never a great badge of courage.
