Dang, there is no escape

The existence of God as Creator is hardly a matter for serious dispute. Even the devil does not waste his time trying to dismiss the obvious; no, his interests are more covert.

Image result for the great escape

But the professional collector of intellectual waste merely recycles thoughts of borrowed driftwood to argue against the simplest truth of all: In Him we live and move and have our being. Yep, there is no escape from the fact that God owns it all, and man is but a trespasser on another’s property.

To the skeptic, it is a perpetual smokescreen and a pretended matter that looks for proof or evidence, but is easily refuted by the genius of a God created conscience.  And this conscience knows the truth of a Gideon bible placed discreetly so the weary and heavy laden traveler can find  a much-needed rest not found in any inn by the wayside. Time magazine does not offer rest.  Darwin offers excuses. The Koran offers chaos.

Years ago, a rabbi in Europe was given a New Testament and threw it across a room where it landed behind a bureau, and there it sat, collecting dust for years, as he thought it was an imposter book for ‘others’ who need crutches. Years later he found the book, and opened to Matthew 1.1 and read for the first time: ‘  The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham….’

Needless to say, he was in for the ride of his life, and buried his own pride and false assumptions, as he learned for the first time about the stone that the builders rejected. Belief in God? Easy.

But that wonderful truth about the Head of the corner then became a millstone around his neck, costing him reputation and family struggles, but to him was weightless for the glory of God.

Yes, the terms of a relationship with this Creator……….that’s another story, and worthy of discussion. Saul of Tarsus had an issue with these terms, while Paul the apostle was blinded for the glory of that revelation.

That master law keeper Nicodemas, who secretly wanted his questions addressed, was given revelation that has been the same light to millions. For God so loved the world…

The humbled woman who was dragged to the Lord’s feet, heard a word that was balm to her heart, while the same word was a sting to the conscience of her accusers.

This word convicts, assures, or gladdens the heart. It is a savor of life or a savor unto death. It reveals light or it reveals darkness. It tends to life, or it confirms unbelief. It satisfies the thirsty, or is bitter to the glutton. All men are gluttons, as we live to satiate our own foolishness by denying the God of heaven and earth.

But where can a man go to flee from the Creator’s domain? Under water? In the air? Across the continents?  Under a rock? Asleep? Ha, God made the diamond, and has all bases covered so there is no excuse. Let me repeat: even the devil does not waste his time trying to dismiss the obvious.

Proof and evidence are so easy to see that a child of three can say ‘yep.’ The science of life is enough. Redemption is much harder to understand, but impossible unless one believes that God is, and with the same help given by God to the rabbi, is quite easy.

There is no escape from this truth. Go ahead and deny, ignore, or foolishly try to refute, but God has never lost an intellectual argument with ants.

Right, that’s why the majority of Jewish rabbis today admit the Pentateuch (where your god makes his debut) is inventive geopolitical myth.

But the professional collector of intellectual waste merely recycles thoughts of borrowed driftwood to argue against the simplest truth of all

Not true! I just came up with a new argument just this morning. I call it The Argument from Consistency:

A good god is a just god
For justice to be meaningful it has to be consistent.
The killing of Ananias and Sapphira is not consistent with the crime
Therefore, Yhwh is not a just god.
    Therefore, Yhwh is not good.

And, note my word hardly a matter for SERIOUS dispute.

There is always a market for itching ears. And your last line is in fact borrowed driftwood from Epicurus discourse on evil: no God.

Nice try, but God’s word answers every claim of unbelief as well as ahem, your conscience.

Erm, Colourstorm, Jewish rabbis have more invested in their story being true than you could ever hope to have in a thousand lifetimes.

I believe their assessment of the Pentateuch (a book they have dedicated their lives to studying) trumps yours.

And sorry, but Epicurus deals with the Problem of Evil…. which no theist can solve. I’m dealing with the inconsistency of your god. read my post, you’ll understand where you have gone wrong.

And I am here to tell you that 10,ooo rabbis who deny the Exodus or the facts of creation, or ten thousand times ten thousand professing believers who deny the Christ of God, are weighed in the balance and found wanting.

Numbers are always irrelevant as far as what is true. God’s word and one is a majority.

Who was it that said so timely and sharply: If ye do not believe Moses, neither will ye believe me, for He wrote of me…….

But it doesn’t matter, anyway. As I have proven in my latest post, your god isn’t worthy of veneration.

Unbelieving people who chastise scripture and the Lord of heaven and earth would be better served to keep quiet in matters in which they know nothing.

(and your other goofy comment about ‘being held in moderation,’ has been dealt with already, but in this case, some people have jobs, so once more you make careless assertions, the same way you dismiss God)

I believe you’re confusing chastising with simply politely noting known historical facts.

Of course, if you can identify some other primary source document where your god, Yhwh, the god of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, appears earlier than the Pentateuch then the whole debate is thrown open from a historical perspective.

But, if you want to argue outside the realms of hard facts, then I’m more than happy to oblige. As I have said, I have proven (over a cup of coffee, mind you) your god unworthy of admiration because it is not a just god.

Now, you’re free to try and disprove this, but I don’t think you’ll have much luck.

Still, you might have the capacity to surprise me….

No argument of yours will prosper or unseat the Creator, so save your limited breaths given graciously by the hand of Him who you deny.

A thousand comments later, your case will still be powerless, and God will still be God, and His word just as sure.

God is not on trial, man is, He is just, you are not.

You are God? You decide when people should die?

Any action has multiple facets, many of which we have neither the intellectual capacity nor knowledge to consider and resolve. Consider 1 John 5:14-17. What is the sin that leads to death? Sometimes I think that when scripture is ambiguous, the ambiguity is purposeful. We are force to contemplate our ignorance.

God numbers our days, not you or me or any one of us.

Psalm 90:7-12 New King James Version (NKJV)

7 For we have been consumed by Your anger,
And by Your wrath we are terrified.
8 You have set our iniquities before You,
Our secret sins in the light of Your countenance.
      9 For all our days have passed away in Your wrath;
We finish our years like a sigh.
      10 The days of our lives are seventy years;
And if by reason of strength they are eighty years,
      Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow;
For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
11 Who knows the power of Your anger?
For as the fear of You, so is Your wrath.
12 So teach us to number our days,
That we may gain a heart of wisdom.

I am thankful that He is teaching me to number mine.

I’m fascinated by the debate in this comment section. I wonder how anyone can define justice or goodness without relying on communication from the Source of all that exists. If there is no God, then we are merely the results of a series of cosmic accidents. In that case, good and evil have no meaning at all. (Classic argument–the existence of evil demonstrates the existence of a good God.) J.

You have it in a nutshell salvage. As long as men hold the Creator in contempt in His own creation, the results will always be flawed.

      The Source!

People do not take the time to consider things from heavens perspective; if so, men would be much slower to cast stones toward He who owns all the water.
