Oh THAT word

Dontcha just love the timeliness and eternal relevance of God’s word? God, the great keeper of time, has kept His word.

‘Before Abraham was, I am.”

Pilate: ‘what is truth?’

And God said, ‘let there be light, and there was light.’

(He made the stars also)

‘The Lord was transfigured before them: and His face did shine as the sun, and His raiment was white as the light.’

And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.’

‘All things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

‘The entrance of thy word giveth light.’

‘All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man  as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower thereof falls away, But the word of God  endures forever.’

‘All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.’

Being filled with all unrighteousness, without understanding, deceit,  haters of  God, proud.

‘These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaking great swelling words.’

‘The foolishness of  God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.’

‘Let not your heart be troubled.’

‘With their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips, there is no fear of God before their eyes.’

‘Shun profane and vain babblings.’

We are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.’

‘Many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.’

‘Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.’

‘Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.’

And every man went to his own house.  Jesus went unto the mount of  Olives.

The Lord hath laid on Him, the iniquity of us all

Thank God for His word which has proven to be the true rock of ages. If men do not see the hand of God, it is not because that CANNOT, no, it is because they WILL NOT. Blessed be the name of the Lord.

  3. Oh, amen Colorstorm! I am constantly bedazzled by scripture. Why, it is almost as if God knew exactly what we were going to face! But of course He did, He’s God 🙂

I take a lot of comfort in the idea that there is nothing new under the sun. God has heard every argument, He knows every possible aspect of human behavior, not just once, but probably millions of times over. We cannot surprise or shock Him, or trip Him up. He will always be one step ahead of us.

On a similar note there are only two times in the bible that Jesus Christ ever expressed amazement, astonishment. One was over people’s stubborn disbelief and the other was about the powerful faith of the centurion soldier.

One step? Ha, how about light years ahead ms bytes. 😉

‘Speak but the word and my servant will be healed…………’ Yyyep, there was some faith. He knew something bout this ‘word,’ this word which is honey to some, and poison to others.

Same word, but boy oh boy do the ears decide whether it goes to the heart or to the landfill.

“The foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” All scripture is powerful and good but I’ve always enjoyed this verse in particular. It makes you think a bit, but it really really reaches to the heart of who both God and man are. Very comforting indeed.
