Engage the brain…

In a comment thread at another place, this idea surfaced which is a half way decent observation worthy of its own post.

Man is not smart enough to dream up God. He is however stupid enough to deny Him.

Sure, the three Stooges, Marx brothers, Red Skelton, and Jackie Gleason were funny, but it is not too smart to attach humor to God’s lack of existence.

In Him we live, and move, and have our being. No debate by sound minds.

(P.S. Many of you have old and probably by now, rusted comments of mine, buried in spam. I tried to thank some of you, but WP be messing with me. Regular friends have now been determined to be unworthy of my stuff. Maybe so, but it should be your decision, not force fed by the powers that be. Just sayin.)

  1. well, so far so good—you are not in spam land again—which is a good thing—nor am I in your spam land…or so I trust—
just remember no one can permanently silence the Word of God…it has a way of always popping out 🙂

    I’m gonna go look now!

And..even if every person on the planet stopped talking, God would still be proclaiming Himself just what we can see.

  3. Sorry about spam-land, Colorstorm.

This quote is fabulous, “Man is not smart enough to dream up God. He is however stupid enough to deny Him.” It’s the truth! We just aren’t that smart. What we often forget too, is that faith works, that it transforms lives, that something supernatural is going on here. There simply is no positive thinking, no self help program that can do what Jesus Christ does for people.

Yeah ib, i’m afraid mankind (oops, no pc here) thinks we have arrived. Goliath was a big dummy with an even bigger mouth. Boasting of God’s lack of being is kinda well, not too smart.

And what is strange, is the fact that far too many today when compared to the man from Gath, make him appear as a midget. Ouch.

Compare that to the still small voice of truth, and of course at the end of the day, God’s word has not moved, and the Lord Himself remains the same.

      But His patience!!!! Yikes.

Such a great post, CS! Such a great quote! You manage to pack more meaning and wisdom into a few words than most I’ve ever encountered! I really enjoy that about your writing!

Good morning neighbor. Tkx for the heads up, and yeah, sometimes less is more.

While I got your attention, I sent you a note or two, and for some reason, your site is one of many regular bloggers that have dumped my comments into trash , spam or who knows where.

I have my own ideas on how/why this happens, but eh, that’s another post.

Well! I’ll check that out! I’ sorry to have missed it. If I can find them, I’ll unfreeze them.

To be clear, your comments are always welcome at my humble blog. No exceptions.

Tkx, but I think it has something to do with being ‘reported as spam,’ then the url’s are linked to other sites, then linked again and again.

There is a strange pattern of being blocked that I have never seen; then again, I am not ignorant of certain devices. 😉

Is this a new thing? I have a comment from you on August 7 (here: https://praetori.wordpress.com/2016/08/07/the-drudge-headline-says-4/).

I gather from what you say that your comments never even got to me? If so, I wonder whether there’s something we can say to the people at WordPress… Surely they wouldn’t condone such a thing. That would be censorship of the very worst kind.

Stupid enough to deny god? Depends which one. You deny plenty of them cs. All of them except for yours. The only reason you don’t realize this is that you have assumed that your particular god, the one represented in the old and new testaments, is the one and only.
You see, there is ample evidence that people ARE in fact smart enough to create their own gods. They do it all the time. Just like the biblical god can be demonstrated to have been created out of canaanite myths and Babylonian admixture.

There is only one God mike. The God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the God of Adam, Sara, Esther, Mordecai, the God of Daniel, Job, Peter, James, John, the God of creation who holds all things together by the mere word of His power.

The God of arithmetic, the God of the alphabet, He who is before all things, and He who is after all things, you know the one true and living God, the I am.

The God of history, geography, and scripture, and of course nature.

One God, one Father of all, who in Him we live and move, He who is the first and the last, yeah, THAT God.

The God of 2016 also, and besides Him, there is no other. It is however, in the spirit of this post, stupid to consider God is not.

@CS: You said, “mankind … thinks we have arrived.”

This is, I think, an absolutely on-the-nose observation.

Not smart enough to dream up God? Really?

Do people actually believe that to be true?

What a fabulous quote CS, says so much! As far as this business of you spending so much time in “spam jail”, I have to ask are you sure you didn’t somehow manage to anger the WordPress Gods 😉

Tkx tricia. Always appreciate hearing from you and what you are thinking.

But jail? Ha, I wish it was only that, then I could at least have visitors! It is probably more sinister, and I do not want to believe that there is an intentional ‘hacking’ of sorts.

      Way too strange though.
