Well this is deep

The narrator is highly flattering when he says we know 5 per cent of what lies underwater. I was thinking more like .oo1; even that would be generous.  So in connection with water water everywhere, we read this:

In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

And the waters PREVAILED,  and were INCREASED greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.

And the waters PREVAILED EXCEEDINGLY upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.

Uh oh. And yet we are so quick to dismiss that in which we are clueless while we pretend to be authorities of such things. Quite interesting that we modernists have latched onto that ancient word ‘the deep,’ without reference to He who created the greatest playground in the world.  And btw, it has been discovered recently that in the very deepest part of the waters, there are fountains resembling springs.  Who woulda thought? Enjoy.

  1. Deep subject, very deep, indeed. Kind of makes you think that perhaps humans might want to practice a tiny bit of humility around what we think we know. 🙂

  2. love how the Creator of all that ever was or will be thought of the coolest idea to provide those lovely deep creatures with illumination—-those dangling “bulbs” above their heads—He even considers the not so pretty fish of the deep 🙂

  3. Well CS, I just wanted to let you know that just as your post last week on the earth, this one also brought out the humbling factor—I’m sharing this tomorrow over on cookiecrumbs—

ColorStorm this video is so awesome, I just love stuff like this! I’m going to share it with my niece who is off to college next year to study marine biology. We live in such an amazing world and there is just so much we don’t know. Like how the heck do those penguins and turtles survive so far beneath the surface without being squashed like a bug? Only God knows of course.

Very cool that you will pass along to a ‘little one.’

But as to HOW the penguins and turtles survive at such depths? Ha!

Word on the street is they got wind that some strange creatures known as humans have tried to dismiss God from earth, air, and water, so they said: ‘I’m outta here, and dove deep so they need not put up with such bizarre ideas.

Unfortunately, they had to surface for air, where they witnessed once again the sounds from the shore: ‘There is no God!’ so they playfully ignored the strange music and went once more to the deep, where they lived happily ever after far far from the maddening crowd. 😉

  6. A bit off topic, Colorstorm, but a big “peer reviewed science” retraction just happened. Alas, “science” is not always science. On the bright side, God is always God. 🙂

      Good catch msb.

Even P.T. Barnum would not be impressed: ‘there’s a sucker born…….’

Regarding the waters though, you are not off topic, because there are ‘peers’ who have reviewed the testimony of the deluge, the witness of God, and the complete reliability of scripture.

Yep, reviewed by Peter, Paul, Christ Himself, Matthew, Moses, yep fine peers.

      God is always God, indeed.
