It’s just awful I tellya

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a rainbow is worth the entire library. I took this pic last week with my 15 yr old flip phone, while many walked by with expensive and up to date cameras and phones, you know, the ones that can do everything, (even wash your car  lol) and I observed how they dismissed it as common, after ‘seeing thousands before.’

(jacks pic 10/17)

That’s fine, been there done that I suppose, and maybe no time to look up, onward to more important things doncha know, but I never met a person who at least did not admit the rainbow is spectacular. A sight above sights, this wondered arc of magnificence and beauty, this Monet like bridge between heaven and earth that not even King Solomon could design or construct, it is that good.

There has never been a time when I have not stopped in my tracks and delighted in the majesty of God upon seeing this. Science bows at the Creator’s feet in humble awefulness, that is, full of awe and reverential respect.

Connecting the waters of the sky with the dirt of the earth, the rainbow testifies that God does not sleep, that He is well aware of His earth and the goings on, and that He remembers His own oath, because He is good like that, that in spite of the acts of men, with wars, deceit, fraud, theft, sexual perversion, murder, mischief, lies, politics, atheism, idolatry, religious charlatans, beheading monsters, and vice of every sort having its way, God knows, sees, and reminds us His patience will come to a close.

Men wrongly assume God is aloof because He does not accept the fools challenge to ‘show up’ and prove Himself! As if God could ever lose a duel fight. You don’t want God to ‘show up’ because you are unaware of what fear and trembling really means.  He is God, I am not. You are not.

He made the rainbow, you did not, science did not. His bow reminds us that He is good, very good even, that He is for us, and that He is the Creator, and that the earth is His, in all its fulness. Don’t think so? You then think way too much of yourself.

The bow suspended by water, in the air, with the colors so masterfully blended, no accident here, so look again, before it disappears, and before you forget the promises of God. The divine artist waving a hand across the canvas of the sky, and the fact that rainbows are seen multiplying, may give one the idea that the days on the calendar are numbered, and our own allotment of days will cease.

So look ye believer and enjoy, and remember the Creator’s word; look ye skeptic, and consider that apart from God, science is but a corpse with pretty clothes,  with no life or breath, pretending to be an image of the true.

Full of awe that bow is, across the lands, across the seas, across the world, the bow is God’s promise that He will never destroy the world again, through water. And oh there is this.

After seeing such a sight as a full bow with its Beauty that cannot be contained as seen in the reflection, consider the woman who said of the Lord: ‘If I can but touch the hem of His garment………….’ He is Awe……as a matter of fact, He is Wonderful….and He can make me full.  She knew. Others know. The glory of God as revealed in the person of the Lord Christ, and the bow then was, as it is now.  Just awe-ful.

Have I now become your enemy by telling the truth? Hope not.

It’s a good one S; G-Zone, complete with compass, vid capability, maps, time zones, walking counter; and made out of unbreakable rubber. Can’t get rid of it! lol

I got an old flip-phone too, but nothing like that one. Lousy camera. Only thing it is good for is the phone.

Every now and again I see a rainbow. We have that scientific explanation, but I remain always amazed, especially when it arcs completely across the sky. Can’t believe anyone would not take a moment to gaze at such beauty.

The science may explain how, but it does not explain why, and it does not explain our joy in seeing a rainbow. Pity the soul who doesn’t.

Sometimes the old ways are best – even when it comes to technology. Great post as usual and I love the true representation of the rainbow that you declare.

  3. LOL! We call those old phones “retro,” Colorstorm. They have class and are much desired. As much as my kids make fun of me, I notice they show up quite often to borrow my outdated things when theirs break. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

The Lord gave me a double rainbow right over my head once, right while I was praying and lamenting the decline of Western civilization. Remember my promise. Quite embarrassed to say I’ve often walked right past His works of art, but not anymore. He has my full attention now 🙂

And I’m sure you will agree that some of His finest works of art are staring us in the face, while they are breathing their last, some with full wits in hospitals or home, some even saying ‘see you in the morning.’

Indeed, God has endless ways of capturing our attention. The bow in the sky is to me anyway, just another wink of divine serendipity. ‘)
